Finger/Longline Splice

This splice provides an excellent continuous release surface. Die Cut interlocking fingers are joined, reinforced and heat sealed into place.

An improved form of the butt splice is the longline finger splice in which there is no longer a straight line of weakness. In thick materials it is possible to make this splice without a reinforcing strip, as its strength increases with total cross section of the bond area: (length of bond line) x (thickness of base material). A number of different reinforcing materials, such as films, fibre reinforced films and PTFE-glass, are used for both simple Butt and Longline splices. Achieving the necessary strength while keeping the splice as thin as possible can be difficult. The type and size of re-inforcing strip is chosen to match the belt fabric, size of belt and intended application.
